At Rising Sun Martial Arts in the heart of Downtown Abacoa, we believe every child has the potential to thrive—on the mat, in the classroom, and in life. Under the leadership of veteran instructor Neil Buzick, our Kids Martial Arts and Teen Martial Arts program goes far beyond self-defense. It builds confidence, character, and the kind of mental focus that leads to academic success.

We’re proud to serve families in Jupiter, Abacoa, and Palm Beach Gardens—giving kids and teens the tools they need to do well in school and grow into strong, resilient leaders.

1. Laser Focus That Carries Into the Classroom

Martial arts teaches kids how to stay present, pay attention, and follow through—three skills that directly translate into better classroom behavior and stronger study habits. Our structured classes help students improve listening skills and train their brain to focus, even in high-distraction environments.

The result? Kids who train with us are often better prepared to follow directions, finish homework, and participate confidently in school.

2. Discipline That Builds Responsibility

Through Filipino Martial Arts and Kali training, our students learn discipline in action. From bowing when entering the studio to showing up on time and in uniform, students begin to internalize structure and accountability. These habits become part of who they are—leading to improved time management, stronger work ethic, and greater personal responsibility.

3. Confidence That Boosts Participation

It’s hard to raise your hand in class if you’re unsure of yourself. But at Rising Sun, students grow their confidence through achievement. As they master forms, earn belts, and overcome challenges, they learn to trust themselves—and that self-belief carries into school.

We’ve seen countless students go from quiet observers to active participants—more willing to speak up, volunteer, and lead.

4. Leadership That Starts Early

Our Leadership Program teaches older kids and teens how to be mentors and role models. They help guide younger students, demonstrate techniques, and practice public speaking—all in a supportive, positive environment. These leadership reps help students excel in group projects, presentations, and eventually in college and their first jobs.

5. A Positive, Encouraging Community

One of the greatest benefits of training at Rising Sun is the sense of belonging. Under Mr. Buzick’s guidance, our studio has become a second home for many kids and teens. The encouragement they receive here lifts them up, especially when school gets tough.

Being surrounded by positive role models and peers helps kids believe in themselves and keep striving for their best—academically and personally.\

If you’re in Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, or anywhere near Abacoa, Rising Sun Martial Arts is more than just a dojo—it’s a launchpad for your child’s success.
