Since opening the studio on October 1, 2014, Neil has made it his mission to offer top-tier kids, teen, and adult martial arts training rooted in respect, strength, and real-world experience.

Neil’s decision to launch Rising Sun was deeply personal. Alongside his wife Shella and their children, Elias and Jazmyne, he’s fostered a close-knit learning environment where families grow together. Both of their kids actively participate in regular classes and the Leadership Program—a testament to the family-first values at the core of the dojo.
Veteran Roots Deliver Discipline and Real Insight
As a former military counterintelligence agent with over five years in Iraq and Kuwait, Neil brings unmatched discipline, intention, and real-world maturity to every class. His background in counter-terrorism shapes a martial arts program that’s more than kicks and kata—it’s structured, meaningful, and rooted in focus.
Mr. Buzick served in the US Army as a soldier during the Iraq War conflict on a year-long duty from 2004 to 2005. He then served as a US Army Intelligence Officer contractor from 2005 to 2010.
